It Has To Start Somewhere…….

Welcome to the AV diplomat blog! I am so glad you made it! This is the maiden voyage so to speak, and really the first time I’ve dove into the whole blog-o-sphere world! Some of you may have found your way from the AVSuperfriends website or possibly just googled your way through the web and here you are! Either way, again thank you for being here. For those that know me, and I guess for those who do not. My name is Marc and I am one of the superfriends, and I am often introduced as...The AV diplomat.

You may be asking why I started the whole deal in the first place. That is a fair question. As such I think this first post will be a bit of housekeeping, in hopes of laying the groundwork of just what it is that I am doing with this site, and how I ended up being given the name AV diplomat in the first place.

Well to put it simply, this site is about how “we” go about creating functioning technology solutions...Needs Analysis. No, it may not seem sexy, however, it is a fascinating dance that anyone that works in technology finds themselves stumbling through, or being asked to take part in.

I hope to bring some of the tips, tricks, leadership opportunities, and some good old fashion best practices that I have learned along the way while successfully designing and delivering elegant teaching, learning, and broadcast audio & video solutions. To me, this is not only an important step in the entire project life-cycle but also the most enjoyable. It is the moment you get to focus on human interaction, listening, learning, and collaborating with folks as they explore all of the potentials that could be. It is that all-important first step, that will lead many down the fascinating road of technology deployment.

As I grow this site it is my goal to bring to this community great resources, and voices that inspire all of us to view our technology riddles in unique ways. Ultimately, this will be less about the “black boxes” and “stuff”, but more about how we decided on specific choices that will lead to the best experiences.

For those that may find themselves in over their head from time to time, I will be also offering a complete line of professional services, and access to a pool of other great colleagues that can assist in nearly any aspect of any type of technology project you may have!

Well, that is the basics, for now, I hope you check in from time to time, and if you have not already please head over to avsuperfriends.com and subscribe to that podcast to hear more from me The AV Diplomat, and my merry band of AV misfits as we discuss all things higher education technology and whatever other integration escapades that we may find ourselves entrenched in this week!
